Celebrating the Art of Design: A Journey Through Recognition
Let’s face it: While many of us shy away from openly seeking praise, there’s no denying how good it feels when someone acknowledges your hard work. Whether it’s a simple pat on the back or a prestigious award, recognition has a way of lighting a spark in us. It’s no different in the world of interior design (or interior architecture, as is often known in Europe). Just like movies have the Oscars and science has the Nobel Prize, our industry also has its fair share of glitzy awards — and Studio Hinton is proud to be a recipient of several prestigious accolades in 2024.
But here’s the twist—some of the best interior design work often goes unseen.
Why? Well, public spaces, hotels, and trendy restaurants tend to get all the glory because they’re, well, public. But private homes? That’s another story. Many homeowners understandably prefer to keep their personal sanctuaries under wraps, which means some stunning interiors never make it to the spotlight. That’s why I feel incredibly grateful to have worked with clients who trusted me enough to showcase their homes on a global stage.

A Monaco Gem: Jardin Exotique
Back in 2020, I had the opportunity to design a breathtaking home in Monaco’s Jardin Exotique district. Picture this: sweeping views of the Mediterranean, lush greenery, and a space that deserved to feel as luxurious as its surroundings and capture the ever-changing light.
After pouring my heart into this project, I was thrilled when the owners gave the green light to submit it for the Design et al International Design & Architecture Awards. To my delight, it was shortlisted!
It’s moments like these that remind me why I do what I do. Seeing something I created not just appreciated by my clients but also recognized by an international jury? It’s a pinch-me moment for any designer.

A Swiss Masterpiece: Mountain Ash
Fast forward to 2024, and I found myself immersed in another incredible project—this time, a traditional Schweizerstil chalet in the Swiss Alps. The home, aptly named “Mountain Ash,” became a harmonious blend of rustic charm and contemporary elegance. From custom woodwork to thoughtful detailing that captured the essence of Alpine living, this project was truly a labor of love.
Little did I know at the start that Mountain Ash would not only be nominated for the Callwey Best of Interior 2024 but also win big at the International Property Awards Interior Design Europe. It took home the award for Best Residential Interior in Switzerland and went on to put me in the running for Designer of the Year at the Design et al International Design & Architecture Awards.
To say I was over the moon would be an understatement.
Adding to the excitement, I was also honored as a Designer of the Year 2024 finalist by Design et al. These accolades weren’t just about recognition; they were affirmations that all the late nights, countless decisions, and creative risks were worth it. I knew my little team had done a great job; now I knew others saw it too.
You can see all of this year’s awards and recognitions, including visuals and press mentions, on Studio Hinton’s Press page.

Studio Hinton Awards - Why Recognition Matters
In the world of design, self-doubt can creep in like an uninvited guest. Did I pick the right materials? Is the layout functional enough? Will this color scheme age well? These are questions that every designer wrestles with, no matter how experienced.
Awards and nominations aren’t just shiny trophies—they’re reminders that others see beauty and thoughtfulness in what you’ve created. Knowing that industry experts and peers appreciate your work is a confidence booster like no other. It’s a nudge to trust your instincts and keep pushing boundaries.

Looking Ahead: What’s Next?
With another year around the corner, I can’t help but feel excited about what’s next. Every project is a new adventure, a chance to create something uniquely beautiful. Whether it’s a French château dripping in history, a sleek London townhouse, or a serene lakeside villa, I’m ready to dive in.
Lately, though, I’ve been drawn to Alpenstil—the quintessential Alpine design style. There’s something so cozy yet sophisticated about it. Maybe it’s the mix of natural materials like wood and stone or the way it blends rustic charm with modern sensibilities. Whatever it is, I can’t wait to explore its possibilities even further on the next one.

Gratitude and Growth
None of these journeys would be possible without the trust of my clients. Letting someone into your home, your most personal space, takes a leap of faith. To the homeowners who’ve allowed me to showcase their spaces, I can’t thank you enough. Your willingness to share your home has opened doors and inspired others—and for that, I’m endlessly grateful.
So, here’s to the future. To new challenges, new designs, and hopefully, more moments of recognition. Because while we don’t design for the awards, those little moments of acknowledgment sure do make the ride a lot sweeter.
And who knows? Maybe next year, we’ll be talking about that French château or London townhouse after all. Stay tuned!
