Spatial Planning
Spatial planning is the invisible architecture of a well-designed home. It’s the art of understanding how rooms relate to one another, how movement flows, how light travels, and how each space connects to the whole.
Architects design buildings to look good and perform structurally. But they don’t have to live in them, you do. Our spatial planning work begins with how you actually inhabit your home: the way you move through it morning to evening, how indoor spaces extend to the outdoors, and how adjacent rooms either complement or compete with one another.
When Studio Hinton are involved early in a project, we often work alongside architects and builders to make considered adjustments, moving a door, repositioning a window, opening a wall. Seemingly small changes that can have a profound impact on the finished result.
Good spatial planning is rarely celebrated, because when it works, everything simply feels natural. Rooms breathe. Transitions feel effortless. The home functions as one cohesive whole rather than a series of disconnected spaces.
